Heath Wharton
Founder/CEO
Heath Wharton is a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel and USAFA graduate from the class of 1995. Heath and his wife Rachel launched Mountains Move in 2020, in order to share the healing power of faith, wilderness and horses. He is a graduate of the USAF Weapons School and served in multiple overseas conflicts.
Heath has led backcountry expeditions for more than 7 years here in central Colorado, with extensive experience in Mountain Search & Rescue. He is a firm believer in pushing personal limits as well as the healing power of wilderness and equine experiences. His heart is for the hurting and lost, and he loves sharing the treasure of wilderness with others.

Keith Henderlong
Board President/Mentor
Keith Henderlong is a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel and USAFA graduate from the class of 1997. He served in OEF and OIF on active-duty as a C-17 Airdrop Instructor Pilot, in the Air National Guard as a Global Strike Air Operations Center Division Chief and Civil Engineering Squadron Commander. Keith and his wife Deborah currently live in Alabama and return to Colorado several times a year to enjoy the mountains. Keith is an avid outdoorsman who finds peace in God’s creation while hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, and camping. He is passionate about outdoor leadership and mentoring veterans to find their way with renewed purpose, balance, and connection with God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Rebecca Barton
Board Member
Rebecca 'Becca' Barton is an experienced bookkeeper and outdoor enthusiast. Mother of two amazing kids, always upbeat and positive, 'Becca' has a true servant's heart and keeps our board laughing and seeing the big picture. She operates a small business in Merritt Island, Florida and loves hiking, fishing, and camping.

Lisa Adams
Board Secretary/Mentor
Dr. Lisa Adams is a retired Lieutenant Colonel who earned her commission through Air Force ROTC at the University of Michigan. She served on active duty as a C-21 and B-52 pilot, then transitioned to the Reserves as an admissions liaison officer. She is a lifelong learner and utilized her Post-911 GI Bill to earn advanced degrees in higher education. From 2014-2023, Lisa engaged in programs, resources, and services for military-affiliated students. Lisa is grateful that God has orchestrated her involvement with Mountains Move. She looks forward to sharing her faith and building community with women veterans.

Eric Sikes
Board Member/Mentor
Eric Sikes is a 1995 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel where he served for 21 years in various flying and staff assignments, including a command tour leading the men and women of the 20th Bomb Squadron. After completing Air Force pilot training, he married his college sweetheart and they have three daughters. Eric and his wife Christi currently live in Newnan, Georgia where his is a pilot for Delta Airlines. Eric joined the Mountains Move board of directors in March 2025 after attending the spring Men’s Warrior Summit. Eric has a passion for others and sharing the Gospel. When not busy with his job or helping his family, you might find him out on the golf courses or out fishing.

Mac Langdon
Board Member/Mentor
Mac Langdon is a retired USAF Colonel with over 26 years of experience in leadership, training, and mentoring teams around the world. He has served as a teacher, coach and mission's volunteer since retirement. Mac brings a passion for building strong communities and guiding others to realize their God-given potential. Mac lives in Louisiana with his wife of 27 years and their two children. Mac's favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 3:5-6 and John 13:34-35.

Joel Westa
Board Vice President/Mentor
Joel Westa, Colonel (Ret.) is the former President/CEO of Christian Schools International. Following a 25-year career in the United States Air Force, where he served as a B-52 Weapons Officer, Squadron Commander, Vice Wing Commander and Wing Commander, he served in administration at the university level and at the pre-K-12 level. He has a bachelor’s degree in music education from the King’s College, a Master of Music from Penn State University, a Master’s in Operational Planning from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and a Masters in National Security Strategy from the Naval War College, where he later went on to teach risk assessment and decision making and implementation. He is a graduate of the Harvard Senior Executive Fellows program, and holds three executive certificates from Notre Dame in Non-Profit Leadership and Management and Advanced Negotiation, and a certificate from Cornell University. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he writes and consults on non-profit Board Governance and school leadership. He is married to Deborah, and they have 4 children and 8 grandchildren. He is deeply committed to serving fellow veterans in their post service journey.
Emily is the daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter of military veterans and is an avid outdoor enthusiast. She is passionate about supporting non-profit initiatives and is an experienced horsewoman and professional writer. Growing up in a military family, Emily understands the unique challenges faced by military families and veterans. Emily has multiple years' experience as an outdoor guide, herd manager, and camp summer staff supervisor. Some of her favorite outdoor activities include backpacking, climbing Colorado's 14,000 ft mountains, trail riding, rappelling, and skiing. She holds her B.A. in English and Writing from Regent University.

Meet Our Herd
Mountains Move believes in the power of horses. Mustang training solves local problems and provides abundant spiritual analogies for our Journey of faith. Through learning about horses and riding we often uncover truths about ourselves, our creator, and our communities. We are honored to care for and steward these animals as they help us achieve our vision as a ministry.
